Our history

Our company has been on an interesting journey since it’s conception in 1862 when our founder, Alexander Schoeller bought his first mill in Germany. Since then we have grown considerably and are proud to be able to claim to be world leaders in our field.


1862

Milestone:

Alexander Schoeller bought the first hammer mill (Theresienhütte, Germany)

1924

Milestone:

Schoeller and Bleckmann merge into Schoeller-Bleckmann AG

1946

Milestone:

Nationalisation after WWII

1948

Milestone:

Start of deep drilling technology at Ternitz

1975

Milestone:

Merger into VEW (Vereinigte Edelstahl Werke: Steirische Gussstahlwerke AG Judenburg, Böhler-Werke, Schoeller-Bleckmann Stahlwerke AG) for economic reasons

1976

Shutdown of steel production in the early 1980’s
